El Lee, LMFTA

Marriage & Family Therapist Associate

My first exposure to therapy was at the age of 18, and I knew almost immediately it’s what I wanted to do. I earned my Bachelor’s in Psychology and Musical Theatre from Converse College (now University) in 2019. From there, I immediately began Converse’s Marriage and Family Therapy program, during which I was recognized for my work to increase equity in mental health services for the LGBT+ population in 2021.

My passion lies primarily in the neuroqueer population, but I enjoy working with a wide variety of clients! I am kink positive, polyamory affirming, and secular. I like to pull from a lot of different models, because I’ve found that no single model works for everyone. I work a lot with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Schema Therapy, and Attachment Theory. Whether you’re coming in alone or with partner(s), I believe that a systemic approach helps my clients better understand themselves and their environment.

When working with neurodivergent clients, my primary goal is to help you improve your quality of life. Many people believe that this means helping you appear neurotypical, but that could not be further from the truth. I am of the belief that you should never be less of yourself. Building self advocacy and learning your sensory needs are far more important to me than helping you be more palatable to others.
